Session: “CAN AI BE A BETTER VERSION OF OURSELVES?”

This talk will explore the question of whether AI, or artificially enhanced humans, could be ethically better than humans.  The talk will be centered on the claim that AI could indeed be better, but by virtue of being less like ourselves. Thus answering the question in the title with: “in a sense yes and in a sense no.”  In pursuing an answer to the question, the talk will explore various reasons for and against the view that AI could be ethically better, as well as recent technological developments relevant to considering the possibility of ethical AI.
